9 Sep 2017 – 12 Nov 2017

MSVU Art Gallery is collaborating with the SSHRC-funded project entitled “Bodies in Translation: Activist Art, Technology, and Access to Life” and the Nova Scotia Centre on Aging at MSVU. In keeping with the projectís focus on socially engaged creative work by artists who embody difference, the works in Bodies in Translation address various facets of aging, including age-related disability. The exhibition features artists from the Atlantic region. The confirmed list of participants will be announced by late August.

Organized by MSVU Art Gallery, Bodies in Translation, and Nova Scotia Centre on Aging.

We encourage entries that address how experiences that come with age, such as aging with and into disability, can inspire alternate forms of embodiment, culture and art practice. The entry form provides further details. Those eligible to enter include artists and artisans who self-identify as older adults. Also eligible are artists and artisans who care for or assist the elderly, and those whose design work addresses the special needs of the aged.

OPENING RECEPTION Sunday 1 October at 2pm
Join us for the opening reception on the International Day of the Older Person. The gallery is wheelchair accessible and ASL interpretation will be available.
